How To Perform A Breathing Meditation

Meditation is basically a holistic discipline in which a practitioner attempts to go beyond the impulsive, “thinking” mind towards a much deeper state of awareness or relaxation. Meditation is an indomitable component of varying religious practices and is used as a recreational skill since antiquity. Mediation can also be practiced outside religions. Different meditative disciplines also encompasses a broad range of spiritual goals—from achieving a consciousness of a higher state, love, compassion and kindness, to emphasize focus on self-awareness, creativity and achievement of a serene frame of mind.

Breathing meditation technique is one of the best ways to attain a mindful presence. You have to place your hands on the belly and recognize that when you breathe, the air passes from the lungs that are placed at the top, through your chest towards the lower parts of the rib cage. You need to imagine your lungs to be like balloons that automatically expand as the air moves in and deflates as the process of air moving out. You need to inhale deep enough to make sure that your lungs are full of air. Feel the rising of your hands as the position of belly rises with the process of inhalation. The reverse happens and your hands fall as you inhale the air out.

Now you need to place your hands underneath your chest to inhale enough to make your hands pushed out. Feel the hands getting raised with the rising of the diaphragm and similarly the hands getting fall with exhalation. You also need to need to practice breathing in similar fashion by placing hands on the middle part of the lungs for about 20 breaths. Inhale only enough to push out your hands.

Now practice breathing with all three breath parts together. Your hands should be between your belly and chest. Compare your body with a big vessel that is filled with water. As you pour this water in some other container, the water first fills the bottom followed by the middle and the top of the container. Pouring out water of the vessel empties first the top then the middle and finally the bottom of the vessel. The process is similar to breathing.

The purpose of this breathing exercise is to help you practice staying focused and present.

Why Men Don’t Need Breathing Meditation And Women Just Can’t Do It?

The idea of breathing meditation is simple. Sit comfortably, relax your body, breath deeply, and clear your brain. All of your thoughts should go away. To help yourself, imagine sunshine. For those interested in reading and learning about breathing meditation, then we have some good information in the paragraphs below:

If you are a man you’ve probably done it. You probably haven’t even used the sunshine projection. If you are a woman, at this point, you are possibly trying to figure out, if your sun should be saffron or amber. Once you’ll decide about it, you will most likely think of buying a dress in this shade. That would be all, regarding your meditation. So forget the sunshine, see why it’s not for you, and you really have nothing to do with that.

University of Pennsylvania has proven that men’s and women’s brain are different in many ways. What’s concerning us here, is boxes vs. Wires discovery. Let’s explain it in a very simple way: Man’s brain is made of separated boxes, while woman’s is like a big electricity package where everything is connected.

Man’s brain has a girlfriend box, sex box, kids box, car box and among many others – nothing box. So when he wants to clear up his mind, he just goes to his brain’s empty space.

When you are asking your husband: what you are thinking about? And he says: nothing. He’s not lying. He is just sitting, breathing, and thinking about nothing. In other words, he is meditating. He doesn’t need to practice it. He has done it successfully five seconds after he was born!

Women on the other hand have no chance of emptying their minds. Their brains are designed to think constantly. If they stop thinking, they will explode! Everything that happens in woman’s life has to be processed in her brain. So having so many thoughts per second, woman has to release it. How? The easiest way is talking. So if you are a woman and your meditation is not going the way you expected, stop it right now, call a friend and relax.

Exercising your breathing is important though for your health. Poor breathing negatively affects your energy and mental alertness, not mentioning lungs. But there are other ways than breathing meditation to improve it. Go for a bicycle ride or hiking. This way you will also lose some pounds, plus you can think as much as want.

Learn Breathing Meditation In Just 5 Minutes!

Have you got 5 minutes to spare to learn breathing meditation? The benefits are huge and you can start getting those benefits in just few minutes. Just focusing on your breathing can help increase your concentration as you’ll be getting a whole lot more oxygen to the brain. This certainly can’t hurt!

Most people only breathe into the top part of our lungs, this results in us only getting a fraction of the amount of oxygen that we could otherwise. But, by breathing through your nose, you will breathe deeper into your lungs and your belly will move as you breathe in. This draws the air deep into your lungs, fully expanding your chest and allowing you to get all the oxygen out of the air. This will also give you a rush of oxygen into the blood. Many of us could do with this and it tends to relax and calm you.

It seems ridiculous I know, but there really is an art to breathing properly and it?s not one that is taught to most of us. Even though it is obviously essential, breathing too often fades into the background. There?s always going to be lots of other more pressing issues demanding our attention unless we focus on our breathing.

So what is the point of getting your breathing right? Apart from the health benefits, it?s essential to learn breathing meditation! So, what?s the next step?

Well, take a few breaths through your nose, feeling them go deep into your lungs and your stomach move out, while your shoulders stay relaxed and down. Now, just close your eyes and keep breathing, drawing the breath deeper and deeper into your lungs. Simply repeat this process with every breath you take for about five minutes.

Is It Really This Simple?

Most people won’t get to a really deep state of meditation by using this method, but you will benefit from it. You will find that you’re calmer and more centred. Your mind will become clearer and less ?cluttered?.

Try to do this every day (I?m sure that no matter how busy you are, you?ll be able to find 5 minutes a day) It helps to get into a habit of doing this at a certain time each day, say after you have lunch or just before bed. This helps to cement it as a good habit so you don?t have to think about it. You just do it.

Some people think that this isn’t ‘real’ meditation, but how do you define meditation? You?ll be developing a great habit, bringing your awareness into the present and getting a little bit of space to relax and get in touch with yourself.

Sure there?s heaps of other techniques that are a bit more involved. But even doing this process for 20 minutes rather than five will give you heaps more benefits. That said, if you start with a quick five minute breathing meditation, you could get a taste of what more in depth meditation is like and get some instant benefits too.

So I hope you can see that you can learn breathing meditation in 5 minutes if you want to. Experience the benefits of meditation for yourself. Get more out of every day in just a few minutes.

If you’ve got a spare 5 minutes, you can start to learn breathing meditation right now. I’ve found that you really can get heaps of fantastic benefits from meditation. Now you can even use recorded sounds to meditate and get heaps of benefits at the click of a button.

Stress Release by Breathing Meditation

The purpose of breathing meditation is to calm our mind and to develop inner peace. Breathing meditation is useful to reduce our distractions.

First, choose a quite place to meditate and sit in a comfortable position. You can sit in the cross-legged posture or in any other position that is comfortable to you. If it’s inconvenient for you to sit in traditional posture, then you can sit in a chair. You have to keep your back straight to prevent your mind from becoming sleepy.

You can sit with your eyes partially closed and turn your attention to your breathing.

You breathe naturally.

You breathe through your nostrils.

Don’t try to control your breathing.

Try to become aware of the sensation of the breath as it enters and leaves the nostrils.

Now try to concentrate on this sensation.

This is our object of this breathing meditation.

Try to concentrate on this sensation only.

In the beginning, there will be a great temptation to follow the different thoughts as they arise. But, you should resist this temptation and remain focused on the sensation of the breath. If you find that your mind has wandered and is following your thoughts, you should immediately return it to the breath. Repeat this whenever your mind becomes wandering.

By doing this continuously, your distracting thoughts will subside and you’ll experience a sense of inner peace and relaxation. When your distracting thoughts are calmed through concentrating on the breath, your mind becomes clear.

When the distracting thoughts are subsides, your mind becomes still. You can feel a deep happiness and contentment naturally arises from within yourself. Stress and tension normally comes from our mind.

By doing breathing meditation, you will be able to reduce this stress. You will experience a calm mind and your usual problems will fall away. You can easily deal with your difficult situations in your life. You will naturally feel warm and your relationships with others will improve.

By doing breathing meditation regularly, you’ll lead your life peacefully.
